Tourism - The Waters

The Romans had already recognized the virtues of the spring water in Lacaune, which since those times has allowed the developing of the thermal baths.

In the 19th century, the management and organization of spas in Lacaune experienced its era of splendour.

Today, Lacaune possesses a mineral water known by the name of " Mont-Roucous " harnessed at an altitude of 927 meters in the heart of the forest of the Monts de Lacaune in the Parc Naturel du Haut Languedoc; this water is recognized as being the purest in France.

You will discover the " Font dels Pissaïres " in the centre of town which humorously symbolizes with humour the diuretic properties of the waters of Lacaune.

All around the Monts of Lacaune, water is always omnipresent with many streams and rivers favourable to fishing, and middle-altitude lakes which let one enjoy a variety of different water sports.
